I did a big grocery shop, gassed the car, and paid a bill. :hadron:

I did my usual Saturday cleaning stuff. There's still a bit of laundry running because I woke up really late. I don't have any big chores for this week and the cars still look good, so I'm not sure what else to do. I'm thinking about starting some of the small jobs that only get done once or twice per year, so I don't feel like scrambling to do those things right before the holidays. I might do a vinegar treatment on the bathroom fixtures. I don't like doing that because it makes the house stink. :aff:

I went to the store to buy some vinegar because we were almost out, and was looking at the cleaning products. I noticed a calcium and lime remover I've never seen before. The same brand also makes a rust stain remover I've sworn by forever, so I figured I'd give it a try, and I bought some vinegar anyway just in case. I'm pleased with the results of the new cleaner. That's a task I might now want to do more often now, since it didn't make the house smell like a giant pickle. :dunno:

We went to the "last of the season" park concerts.

The band was good, local bunch, but they pushed their sound sytem farther than it was capable of working well.
Otherwise, great small venue concert.

We have this liquid stuff in Australia called CLR - Calcium, Lime, Rust. Kayleigh uses it on her cast iron cookware if it happens to get rust in it and it's also good for getting rid of the water stains in the bath and shower.

Today we played Star Trek Adventures. I'm still the science officer so I get to do a lot. We had a new guy join us and he played like a pro even though he didn't know much about Star Trek. It's like a full 4 hours of socialising so I'm tired at the end of it. But I still enjoy it very much because Star Trek.

I tried CLR when it first came out a long time ago and it didn't work well for me. I also tried it again about ten years ago on a used dishwasher we bought, it worked sort of okay but required too much scrubbing. I've always just stuck with vinegar and let it sit overnight on stubborn spots. I soak paper napkins with vinegar and stick them to whatever I'm cleaning, and in the morning the stains are gone. The dish scrubber idea didn't work for me in the shower because it kept leaking out the soap. Now, once or twice per week while I'm showering I quickly wipe the tile and glass with a magic eraser, and I spray it with a bleachy shower spray once per week when I clean the bathrooms. With that method, I haven't needed to scrub the shower in almost two years and it still looks awesome. Though, warning if anyone tries that, I've read the new extra-strength magic erasers aren't safe on glass and can scratch shiny surfaces. I just use the cheaper generic ones from walmart.  :dunno:

Took a walk, picked up some trash and got a big "thank you" from a driver who slowed down so I could hear him.  I replied back that he was welcome.  It is nice to get some affirmation once in a while.   8)

I went to church, spent time at home... and practically never left the house... only to get my meds, and annoy my psychiatrist about the one particular med that I need.

Spent the day working on a piece of software our management refers to, and sells, as a product. Until very recently it was a piece of vapourware, just an idea that I had, but who needs technicalities like that?

Need to find a writer's group... if I want my stuff to get noticed, I need to find people who could help me with my craft.

Slept a little, but last night was the big metal concert I attended.
Hey, I was not the oldest old fucker there either! Megadeth fans are as old as Megadeth themselves!

I was really impressed by The Hu!
It was The Hu, Megadeth with Five Finger Death Punch as the headliner.

Even the sound was pretty good at first. Once Five Finger got on though, it was a bit too compressed and just sounded yuck with them trying to be the loudest.

I wore my ear plugs and my shooting hearing protection cans.
Had a great time!

I worked on some more deep cleaning in the dining room. There's a china hutch and two corner curio cabinets, so it's a lot of mirror and glass and fragile items. I could probably get it all done in a day but I have to move really slowly and do little bits at a time because it gives me so much anxiety. I'm a total clutz, so I'll catch myself holding my breath or even breaking into a sweat, for fear of  breaking a piece of furniture or destroying a family heirloom. It's something I prefer to do twice per year, but I'm pretty sure I let it go a whole year this time and it still looks really good anyway. I think because it's all closed behind glass doors and I'm fanatical about dust everywhere else, once per year is fine. I also did a little cleanup outside on the patio. It wasn't a lot, but still taking a first step toward a bunch of stuff I want to get done outdoors in the next few months. :hadron:

I changed a light bulb.

I know, it sounds like I am making fun of stupid people and including myself in that group.
We have these really cool bathroom fixtures with fan and light combined that are way up high in the vaulted ceiling and I could not see any screws or clips to loosen and get to the inner workings to get to the bulb that blew.

SO, I get up on a ladder for the first time since I fell off one and broke my arm in three places, determined to Be The Man and figure this out.

I touched the globe part and it opened up. So cool. It works by pushing on it like a cabinet door. Press to open and press to close. All with no fasteners seen from the outside of the fixture. Cool!

My turn ...  :hadron:
