Just finished putting together my grocery list for this week and then when I checked the flyer of my local store I found out they're having their dollar day sales. Nearly everything on my list is on sale for $1! little things make me ridiculously happy.

That's great timing!   Stock up and be merry!
:agreed: things are quite tight this week financially but there's a few things i can afford to stock up on. Shopping just because much less stressful.  :)

MissKitty, I know what you mean about things being tight.  The timings wasn't right for me to use up my 5 cents off a gallon of gas from last month, so I just rolled it forward to this month.  When I filled up yesterday I only paid $1.49 per gallon of gas.  I felt positively giddy and rich.  I've been spending way too much on eating out, but I have meals planned for eating in this week, so we will make it to the end of the month particularly since everyone will get their checks on Friday, June 1.  Thank heavens for bent and dent cans and shopper reward programs.

I'm making a pot roast with potatoes and carrots in the Crock Pot.

It should be ready for lunch tomorrow.

It won't be ready until lunch tomorrow, I think.  I used Yukon Gold potatoes in this one.  Have you tried them before?  They are a golden color and look like they already have butter on them.

Not sure I've ever eaten those lovely taters but I'll certainly enjoy them tomorrow!  :2thumbsup:

:agreed:

I find things always have a way of working out. I, too, have been spending too much on eating out and have gone back to my regular meal planning. Trying to add a few dishes which can be put together more quickly and are less intensive because sometimes it just comes down to a matter of having no desire to cook. I know I feel better when I eat a well cooked meal at home though. I'm making minestrone in the crockpot (resident favourite in my house) and I found another crockpot recipe for tortellini. Going to try that too.

I'm in the slow process of reworking my menus.  PA has been having a ticky stomach when I serve spiced food such as chili, spaghetti, etc.  Now that he has gout I have to take that into consideration as well.  The PR and I are supposed to be on diets.  And since we're on different time schedules (PA up at 6, the PR up at 9 and I get up about 11) means we're ready for lunch and dinners at different times.  That is why we eat out so much.  At times it feels like I'm coordinating a United Nations kitchen with different time zones.

Second sieving of my elderberry flower cordial, as part of the bottling process.

It's dripping, while I type.

Hearing music,

and typing this post.
