The brunette isn't as girlish as she was last year. The cook girl is still absent. The Chinese woman, who owns the café since a couple of years, was there with her assistant today. I don't like either of them.

The kiddo of the blackbird couple (T. merula/in my garden) is female. Beautiful fox-red juvenile plumage she has at the moment.. which will be a bit more boring brown at the end of the year (I suppose).

Also my Brugmansia* is about to go into bloom any moment now.

Interesting road kill has been found within 15 km from where I live.

It could be a wolf. DNA testing will show if it really is and not a wolfdog. Apparently the stomach content contained beaver. That's not the regular dogfood. So, it looks promissing.

Wolfs are missing from the Dutch ecosystem for about 150 years.

Yep, coyotes were missing around here, then the nice people working with the game commission started bringing them in to "study" the effects...now it's open season year round due to over population and you watch your pet if you let it out at night.

No one is bringing them in here. If this is really a wolf, she came by herself. What she was looking for in this wet spot, no idea.

A wolf would be a sensation in our corner of the world.

We had one stray visit the city a couple of months ago. She was around for a week or so and even ventured into the city proper.

More than a few species of wild animals are adapting to urban life.  We have hawks, egrets and nutria in my immediate neighborhood.  There are coyotes living between the levees and the Mississippi River.

It is a sensation here. Results on the DNA will be in in a week or less. So far, the evidence makes that the researchers in the Netherlands are for 98% sure. German researchers will try to find out what pack of wolves she came from.

They were expecting to find wolf traces somewhere in the Netherlands, because there have been sightings in Germany not far from the border. Apparently the distance from the German border to here is just a nights walk for a wolf.

Bloody hell. I meant to write "your corner of the world".

It *is* a sensation. You shouldn't have them. They won't be able to survive for long, right?

If they can survive close to the German border, they should be able to live here too, I guess. But, real wilderness, no, we don't have that. There are enough places to hide and hunt though. Foxes do great here. A wolf is something different, I know, but I can imagine that it will find ways to adapt.

I wonder if I ever will happen to see one. Guess not.

Sweden is 55% pure forest and a population density of 23 persons/km2. Better chances for a wolf here  :viking:

I'm sorry she's dead. She was  :viking:

There have been reports of sightings of wolves around here before, but always without proof. Now there is tangible and testable proof.
