Birds seem to think Spring's 'round the corner here. See, daytime temperatures are/were around 10C here for the last week (or so).. and quite a few of them started singing their nice songs early in the morning (last 3/4 days).

Um, Jan 5th.. their assumption cannot be right, here. It isn't.

Clouds of Chironomidae everywhere.

They are also invading the house, every time the door or the window opens. Tomorrow morning, all flying invaders will be lying dead on the floor. For now, it is wise to watch the cups and plates, to see none have fallen in our drinks and on our food.

It's not that bad yet, only a few hundred of them. Have had it lots worse.

The house I worked on today had a nice view of New Haven out of the attic window but it would have been nicer without the tree in the middle

Some guests, kramsvogels (turdus pilaris), from the north-east in the garden, eating from my ligustrum berries. A mistle trush (turdus viscivorus) drops by now and then too, and plenty of blackbirds (turdus merula) are around.

Looks like a turdi party. They also like the apple I put on the table for them. Strangely enough, one half of the apple is almost completely eaten by now. The other half is almost untouched.

They would probably love me throwing in a  :CanofWorms: but, I don't have that.
