It is easy to get a prescription these days.

They are way too panicky here about Hurricane Irene.

Hurricane Hints

Stock up on foods that don't need cooking or refrigeration.  Have a manual can opener and a church key (even if you're an atheist.)

Use a wastebasket lined with a plastic shopping bag from the grocery and lined with a couple of pieces of paper towel as a toilet.  Sometimes the water plants don't provide water.

Be careful with candles.  The fire department will probably not come out in 60MPH+ winds to put out your fire.

Agreed.  Remember the evacuation fiasco that was Houston for Rita?  8 hours into the evacuation some people hadn't gone 10 miles.  If you start now you may be able to get far enough away or at least a decent hotel room about 6 hours inland in regular drive time.  Anything closer is iffy.  It may well be impossible to evacuate NY, because so few people have cars.  The rest of the areas should do okay.

 If in doubt, scoot out.

My experience comes from Carla in Houston, Betsy, Georges, Katrina and Rita in New Orleans.

I am a Hurricane, University of Miami Alum, and survived Andrew. I have also been through many, many more, but much weaker ones having lived my entire life on the East Coast. Irene, unless the path changes, will not slam into here like that one 3-5 years ago.

Changing the name is better than changing the soap

Change clearly announced beforehand I'll manage but unannounced, not made clear as of why, change I hate too. Not sure about the mechanism behind it. Loss of, suppose to have, control? Increase of insecurity again? 'Hard' to regain or finding new balance? It excites too much?

Dunno. Maybe others have a clearer view on auties disliking change (in general).

I tend to fall into rythms, like doing the same things every day. It gets boring.
I love it when something unexpected comes along and knocks me out of my dull rhythm.
