Last talk of the conference and I can't focus.

They are playing crowd sounds on the baseball games on the radio

They've done it with the footy here as well. It's almost convincing until you see all the empty seats.

They're doing the same for hockey.

It's my day off and it's an absolutely downpour outside. That makes me quite happy because curling up in bed on a rainy day is the best.

That and the cardboard cut outs to represent patrons in the stands.
I have heard that MLB have done this for their baseball games, too.

As far as one of my own observations...
The Indianapolis 500 is turning into another covid-19 nightmare due to some virtual pushing and shoving by both sides of local politics.
Penske (big name in racing) bought the entire track, all the ad rights, museum and everything and wants to have the race  (read as, "start making money, today")  and has run into conflicts with local health "authorities" related to the huge IU Health network.
Penske has been working for months with the State, CDC, etc and they have a PLAN in place.

Now the local health admins are trying to stop the race, completely.

I gave up on attending the race back when they announced that it would be delayed until August.
I entered with the devoted race fans who volunteered to NOT attend so the crowd count could be reduced to one quarter its normal head count, which approaches 350,000 people, normally.

The Indy 500 website had a new FAQ page set up for this issue. I'm OK with the solution.  I have a voucher for next year's tickets and a half off voucher for the following year if I want to continue my yearly (journey to Mecca) race day fun.

I have mixed feelings. They would probably be wise to cancel the race for this year as the Second Wave spreads it dark wings. But I want the race to happen.

Even where I live, with numbers being low (less than 200 in the entire province every 24 hours), those in the medical fields at well known universities are saying that when schools open in September, they suspect we'll be in another lockdown by Thanksgiving (October).

Our numbers are down, too, but that's because of all the social distancing measures.

Numbers are low in Connecticut too under 200 per day since mid June with a couple exceptions.  We did get it real bad when it all started due to being close to NYC though.

If I look like I'm busy, it isn't enough... if I am busy it's enough for me because it makes the time fly by...

Although the schedule at work is too short .__.

Getting a hair cut today. Slightly uncomfortable about it.

Just got a LinkedIn contact message from a recruiter trying to hire me for the company I already work for. (Yes it's listed.)

Dad got admitted into the hospital... only this time, I don't know how to feel about it... because ever since I could remember since being back from Pakistan in 1995, there was always those times Dad was admitted and somehow I just accepted that he was always going to have these problems... no matter if it was health or psychological .___.
