At everyone who posted about needle sticks.  I've been giving blood for over 35 years.  Once the technician probably made a small tear in the vein when he was pulling the needle out.  My arm had a 6 inch bruise on it for days.  That was an inconvenience.  This stick was hopefully a one-off.  I won't stop giving blood because of a moment of pain.  It's too important.

no one is implying that anyone should avoid giving blood or getting stuck for other things. at least i don't think so. anyway, i'm not.

i've had plenty of bad needle sticks - it happens. doesn't mean it doesn't suck. it takes a long time for a blown vein to heal. i've got one that's taken about two months so far.
i'd still be giving blood if i could since my type is in high demand.

I think I have pretty decent tolerance for everyday small pains.  At the worst of my toothaches,
I wasn't crying.  I would sit in bed rocking back and forth, or I would sway from foot to foot.  :trollskull:

However, I would never had my teeth drilled without being numb first.  It's not just the
intensity of the pain that bothers me, but the unpredictability of it.  I don't want to have a
startling bolt of pain and flinch or jerk back in the chair at the moment that a drill or other
instrument is in my mouth.  Dangerous!  I'm a pretty good patient, though.  Once numbed,
I sit in the chair (sometimes rigid, sometimes relaxed) and stay still, only whining a bit or
raising a hand if they hit a nerve.  But I need to brush and floss more.  :tard:

I love  :pinan:  juice too, but it gives me instant heartburn.  :(

I have a slightly higher-than-normal platelet count, and should probably donate  some of them,
but I want them around to help me clot when I have my occasional nosebleeds and bloody gums.  :bloody:

besides being a universal donor, i went for the cookies and orange juice (and the gallon donor pins). i went every two months like clockwork.

Dad was a universal donor.  I'm O+ though.

Had to look up "universal donor". I am O-, but I have made antibodies against blood type A. So, probably not that universal.

I don't donate. It's not the fear of the needles. I can watch if they draw blood from me. But after more than four vials of blood I am about to faint. The more they get, the worse the effect.
Friend of mine does react similar. He has been a donor, till they did not want him anymore. He took too much time to recover in the seat used for drawing blood to make his donation worth while.
I did feel somewhat guilty, for not donating blood. But since he told me his story, that sense of guilt is over.

After my death, they can have my organs. That I will donate.

In the U.S. they will not take any organ donations if the deceased is 70 or older.  Not even skin  We tried to have Dad's organs donated, but he was 78 when he died.
