I am not intimidated by anyone here, and I think that some of the people with the worst reputations are some of the nicest people Ive met online. As for me, well I really do try to be a nice person, it isnt in my nature to want to argue with someone unless they really get on my nerves. IRL, I can be intimidating to some people. I am quiet most the time but when I do speak people tend to listen. I'm also taller than everyone by a mile, and flirty. So, Im not everyone's cup of tea.

Thanks :viking:

It says we have over 450 members, but how many of them post regularly??  So i have to agree with Pentagram that we do need more members.  I like the diversity here.  Don't have to all get on, thats why it is so good.  I did start to pm new members just saying 'hi are you going to post an intro' and 'we are not that bad etc' as i think it can appear a little intimidating at first.
blah blah blah

I was never intimidated by I2, but I had heard about it before I joined. According to others, it was amoral cesspool where the only thing that mattered was whether or not you could back up your opinion. This made perfect sense to me. Later, another member of AFF posted a link, and I decided to join. I2 does have a fearsome reputation, and some members here have their own reputations from events in AFF's history, such as Rossco's arguments with Amy, and Flardox's rampage/crusade against ED (I recently learned who Flardox is on I2, and I was amazed at the change ). I understand if sensitive aspies are afraid of I2.
I2 has a smiley for everything. Even a hamster wheel. :hamsterwheel:

I think flardox prefers to remain anonymous.  :zoinks:

Flardox is well known outside of AFF. Flardox is almost a mascot for the forum. :zoinks:

Online I don't find many people intimidating certainly none here. I personally have that problem IRL people tend to think I am unapproachable or mean at least till they talk to me for a awhile then everything is fine.

I think cbc is intimidating and scary :dunce:

  :plus:

I used to lurk here, months before I registered, and I did find the place intimidating at first.
I thought a lot of you were mean.  :emosad:  The flame wars were something new to me, and PPK in particular
(with his avatar at the time, James Woods pointing a gun, and the text that read "Harden the fuck up!")
struck a bit of fear into my heart. But I loved the smilies and I knew a few of the members, so I joined!

EDIT: I should add that a lot of the ones who seemed mean in my lurking days are really not bad. They blast each other in arguments,
but they are not in fight mode ALL the time. They have their thoughtful, quiet moments too. I'm glad I joined.
  :)

I could see how people who didn't really know us could find some of us mean.

If the first they knew of me was my call-out with Hiro without knowing the context behind it, they might even think that I was mean.

Well, I think being sensitive is a form of being selfish. :orly:

And you wanted to sex me up yo!

I first came here early 2007 after hearing about it on wp. First joined in June/July with Sophie but because she was underage she got banned and we made zomg, so I wasn't here much till a couple months later when kosmo/cal etc encouraged me to post here more

I was intimidated at first but I'm not sure why. Nowhere online intimidates me now. At least nowhere I've been
