Depends, I reckon. Taking away what causes it is best but that's easier said than done often. Perhaps, in that light, chiropractic treatment is maybe better.

(..and little dog across the street goes into manic barking/growling mode again.. )(but hey.. )

Um, gun to my head/had to choose.. I'd go for salt here. A dish can 'go' without pepper but dishes with 0% salt.. mwah. Plus, the p/m pepper 'taste' can be obtained via other means.
