I really liked working on aircraft, I just didn't want to stay in the military to do it. And I never got my A&P.

I didn't like working on aircraft in the military. It was too bureaucratic for me.

I still have nightmares about MAF's and the 4790. :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:

I found the forms and codes rather easy. Hell, I even kept on as the training Petty Officer for a couple of months extra. Once a week, maintenance schedule permitting, I would take off a couple hours early to put together a training talk on something. In half an hour I had my subject together and went to Benny's Bar early.

I found all the paper-work to be ponderous and largely a waste of time.

On hard landings, a ton of paperwork had to be generated, only to be wasted because the bird ended up being writen off anyways.  :-\

Why couldn't you just write a single MAF with a defect code of FUBAR'ed??

That's cool. Training people is harder than it looks.  :viking:
