I wouldn't honestly care that much personally, probably be shocked if anything. However the ramifications of assassinating such a powerful target, can inevitably lead to undesirable events. That would concern me.

The biggest consequence of assassination (without having a ideal replacement to steer the course for desired change) is always a power vacuum and instability caused by such an act. So in other words, the assassin wouldn't be doing anyone any favours as they're failing to account for this fact.
