List your values/belief systems.
« on: September 28, 2010, 05:13:04 PM »
This thread is about values. What are your beliefs or value systems? What do you feel strongly about? This can also include what kind of values you like or would like in significant other, friends or your children.

Let us try and not end up in the gutter with this one ;) Felching, fucksaws, boning, bonking, wanking, squirting or any other nefarious activity is NOT part of ones value system.

For me:

1. Integrity
2. Honesty
3. Honour

I wouldn't say I've got any particular set of values. I make an effort to be nice to everybody and help anybody that I can. I dislike ignorance and thoughtlessness.

I think I'm a decent person, although others have said that I show a complete lack of morality. I have to admit that I have made some pretty immoral decisions in my business. I don't really feel bad about those decisions because I felt at the time they were in my best interests. I don't feel good about them either.

I try to reduce suffering whenever I can, within certain limits.  I avoid doing things that would hurt people, I rescue animals that are trapped or lost and I sometimes euthanise injured invertebrates.  I empathise quite strongly and find it easy to imagine the experiences of other people and animals.  Sometimes my empathic sense is too strong, and I'm kept up at night with the thoughts of all the horrible things that I know have happened and that continue to occur all over the world.

I tend to follow the doctrine of the "golden mean" as proposed by Aristole. For example I try in my life to act with a certain level of pride, but not to be too proud or too humble (which can become arse kissing).

Also try my best to treat others as they would treat me, if say they treat me badly, I treat them badly.

Fair. Do I consider in the context I read something as a fair cop?
I2 today is not i2 of yesteryear. It is a knitting circle. Those that participate be they nice or asshats know their place and the price to be there. Odeon is the overlord

.Benevolent if you toe the line.

Think it is I2 of old? Even Odeon is not so delusional as to think otherwise. He may on occasionally pretend otherwise but his base is that knitting circle.

Censoring/banning/restricting/moderating myself, Calanadale & Scrapheap were all not his finest moments.

I leave it up to others to tell me what my good qualities are. I don't think it means shit self announced.

I will always stick up for someone if they are downtrodden and don't deserve it though.

I try and be good to people ( including non-human people :P ). I can be an idiot sometimes, but I think I'm generally alright

I believe very strongly, for multiple reasons, that "illegal" drugs shoud be legalized (and taxed and regulated).  Having said that, I don't do them and am a teetotaller, which means the value system in my life is adjusted from the norm as follows:

1. sex
2. rock n roll
3. ...more sex

Additionally, I do hope that my going against the injuctions in your original post against not treating this topic with the utmost seriousness does not cause you undue distress.  Another of my beliefs is that it's fun to be irritating but not fun to actually be cruel.
it is well known that PMS Elle is evil.

You win this thread because that's most unsettling to even think about.

I try not to be an arrogant cunt but I don't arse kiss.
I believe that having a degree of selfishness is vital. Only care about yourself and your family/friends/loved ones. Strangers can go fuck themselves.
I'm non-violent, but I will defend myself if needed.
I try to be plain aesthetically, vanity is usually insecurity and thoughtlessness to me.
I'm brutally honest to the point of not caring of what people think.
I think twice before doing anything. Planning is essential.

Karma - what goes around comes around.

Blunt - call them as I see them.

Honest - don't bullshit (which means politics is out)

Humourous - can see the funny side of things.

Sympahetic - will try to help others if they are down.
