I noticed.

What appears to happen after the IP ban is that the bots are still registered as looking at the site, but they only get to the index page. I suspect this is a built-in weakness in the board software.

I'll try blocking them from the server.

Yeah, it looks like it helps. There hasn't been a new bot from the IP range since I blocked it.
