Doubled my dose of sex-maniac meds, as per my schedule.

My hip is starting to get a bit sore. Could do with another hit of oxy.

Grapefruit juice goes really well with that.  A couple glasses a day helps intensify the analgesic properties.

My dog got hold of one of my dexamphetamine pills when she was a puppy, sucked on it for a bit (they have sugar in them, and they're sweet), and spat it out after about half of it had dissolved.  She then spent the next few hours hyperventilating, alternating between racing around the house and hiding under my desk, and generally not having a great time.

Thanks for the tip MLA. Although I did know about that one. Works for some opioids, but not others. Not had any grapefruit juice in a while actually, might just pick some up, I love the stuff, especially the kind with the fruit pulp still in it. Or better yet, fresh grapefruit for breakfast, reminds me of when I was little, used to have it for breakfast when I went to visit my (now dead) grandmother.

I'm thinking of asking my doc about flupirtine, although I'm not sure if its used in the UK or not. Its a novel, non-NSAID, non-steroidal, non-opioid analgesic. Not to replace my oxy, indomethacin (strong arsed NSAID) and corticosteroid shots but as an add-on.Novel mode of action, IIRC it works by works by opening of a subtype of inward-rectifying G-protein coupled potassium channels, having downstream effects as an NMDA receptor antagonist, stabilizing the voltage-dependent Mg2++ blockade of the NMDAr complex ion channel. That should give it some efficacy
against neuropathic pain, something which opioids are not very good at.

I'd quite like to give it a trial if its available, nonaddictive, with apparently few side effects  and little development of tolerance.

The GFJ trick works by inhibition of hepatic cytochrome P450-3A4 enzymem one of a fair few CYP-P450 type liver enzymes, and one that generally munches up many opioids into inactive metabolites, and it does the same for benzodiazepines also, and will make them last longer.

In fact, quite a lot of meds warn to be careful with, or not to consume grapefruit juice whilst taking XYZ medication.

There was an article in a recent newspaper on the GFJ interaction actually. Seemingly its much more widespread than originally thought, including cancer drugs, anticonvulsants, some immunosuppressants, statins and all sorts of other things.

Hardly surprising though, given some 90% or more of drugs are metabolized by one or more CYP-P450 liver enzymes. Sometimes GFJ increases plasma concentrations, and sometimes it does the opposite, rendering the drug less effective.

Just about to take my morning OC 20, and a muscle relaxant. Finding it really hard to bend at the moment, I just can't manage it, to bend down at the hip/waist. Tried to pic up a fag I'd dropped in the kitchen before it burnt the doormat, and I had to balance on the counter top and bend only at the good knee.

Time to stick some steroid cream on my swollen feet too. Had to go out earlier, and I could barely fit them into some loose, usually comfortable slippers.

Oh and I checked the package insert for my oxy 40s, and it made no mention at all of GFJ. Was slightly surprised about that, usually big pharma go out of their way to cover their own sleazy arses...hell,one brand of clonidine I got, actually came with a large print warning to consult your doctor before taking any, if the patient is in a coma :autism:

They started warning people when the grapefruit diet became popular.

I took my meds about 2 hours ago.

Took my dexamphetamine, Sinemet, domperidone, sertraline, ibuprofen and omeprazole.  Spent an hour lying in bed with a cold sweat and nausea from the Sinemet.
