That happens to me occasionally.  I think sometimes it's because my stores of dopamine have been depleted; dexamphetamine displaces stored dopamine within the vesicles of neurons and forces it out into the extracellular space, and only some of it gets pumped back into neurons through reuptake transporters and repackaged into vesicles; the rest is degraded into homovanillic acid and needs to be replaced via the conversion of L-tyrosine into L-dopa and then into dopamine.  Once the stores of dopamine are exhausted, dexamphetamine can only squeeze it out of the cells at the rate that it's synthesised.
