I feel bad for them.  But fucking hell, we have our own people in trouble.  I'm sure there's other countries who are in better financia situations.  We are just a small island for fucks sake.

Everyone is in the same fucking boat nowadays, exept for our rich ass overlords. Nothing has really changed since the class based societies of old. It'll never change either. Nobility has just become people who own most of the world instead of people who own most of a kingdom.

I've made peace with it. I used to dream about leading protests, even blowing up certain things. But as an adult I realize they pretty much have our nuts in a vise, and I have finally accepted it.

I always figured if I have any expendible money then I have enough to give away (charity or whatever).

I mean yeah there is a recession and yeah my family isn't the richest in the world, but if I can afford to buy games for my ipod and tickets to see my favourite band then I can afford to give a little to people who really do have shitty lives. Life isn't great for your average person in the UK or the US no, but it's not as bad for most of us as it is for them, and while we can afford to sit on our ass typing on the internet, we can afford to give a bit to a good cause I reckon.

There must be some retarded way of spending government money that could be diverted to Haiti though. I'm not suggesting we give them NHS money, but if we can afford to fuck around on the olympics and shite like that then we can afford to give some to the Red Cross. In a recession the govt should quit spending so much money on bollocks, not completely quit giving to other nations that need it. Obviously things aren't great here right now, but if you compare it to the situation there, I know where I'd rather be.

But yeh a LOT more of it should be rich people giving what they can afford, rather than all of us giving the same. But I would tax the richest a lot more anyway. Maybe we need more progressive taxation. That would solve a lot of our money problems if you think how much more the richest could afford to lose.

Yeah, I agree mostly.  I think the olympics is a good thing though.  But they do spend a lot on bullshit.  Like, we are spending 2 million a day on cleaning up litter.  Simple solution, make prisoners go round picking up litter, while guarded.  If they do well, they can get days taken of their sentence.  And up the fines for littering like fuck.  Oh, and we're wasting millions in Iraq and Afghanstan.

I don't care about them and they won't be getting my money. I don't care about their hardship, I don't care about their poverty, I don't care about how we basically fuck them over.

The people I only do care about:

Friends.
Loved ones.
Family.

The people from Haiti don't fit any of those 3 categories, so they don't get any of my time.
