We have a 25% VAT on food(!) Other European countries usually have 5-6%.  :thumbdn:

WTF  We don't pay sales taxes on food in my state

The general VAT is 25%. We have VAT on everything I think. Though it's "just" 6% for books, theatre tickets etc.

Ours is a sales tax pretty much the same thing.  It's 6% on taxables but many things are exempt like food

They sure do. We have the second highest taxes on the planet.

Swedish booze is also cheaper in the US than in Sweden thanks to Swedish taxation.  :grrr:
And to think where I live has some of the highest taxes in the US
Are you in Massachusetts?

Move to Delaware. :-)
Connecticut just as bad :thumbdn:  I want to move North

Is New Hampshire still tax free?

That bottle of Lit can be found here for 32.95 in Euros.

Taxes on that bottle make a bit more than 5 euro in the price.

VAT on food and such is 6% in general.
on luxury things 19%

On alcohol there is a fixes price per bottle, or glass, depending on the amount of alcohol in it.

And I'd better get myself some tea, forgetting to drink, again.
I can do upside down chocolate moo things!

It would be €17 in tax here, since we pay 501.41 kronor for every liter of pure alcohol. Fucking soviet state.  :thumbdn:

Canada is like that too.  I remember going in a liquor store in Nova Scotia and having a WTF moment
