bittersweetness: "new" computer
« on: December 12, 2009, 02:07:21 PM »
my dad got it from work. so,. the PRO's are:

its newer and faster than my old one. i checked the stats, and i should fiiinally be able to play games like oblivion and fallout 3

THAT IS, if the computer will allow me to install it :b

CONS:
im apparently not admin, and i was forbidden from deleting some bullshit program that was taking up space.

the CD-drive doesnt work, its not even acknowledged by the computer. some online forum discussed this very problem, a file was suggested downloaded, that matched the very drive name, but still my computer insists theres no such thing installed.
the only place it shows up, is in the hardware list, where it claims to not have drivers installed, while these forum discussions seemed to aggree that this drive needed no driver, idunno... i dont use CD-roms anyway...

got this ball-mouse. ill get a new mouse tho :D who invented the ball-mouse!? WHY!?

in the end, for some reason, i actually got less harddiskspace on this one, but i got space on the old one to move over.

all in all its all good, its a quick computer, but i need to delete a LOT of garbage trash thats STILL slowing it down :S and i need to be admin in order to delete things.
anybody know how i go about being the boss of my own damn computer? :/

i guess its a matter of getting used to the ball thing. i dont like its seeming lack of sensitivity tho. i have to roll like mad, to get it to cross the monitor. it would be awful for any gaming :/
i maximized sensitivity, but to seemingly no effect.
and i cant use the install CD, cus i cant use the cd-rom :D

and thanx for the link, ive actually done it before, but i notoriously forget how i fix my own computer problems :D usually it takes me ages of googling forums, and by the time ive finally solved a problem, i have no fucking clue how i did it :D

Check to see if you can remove the ball (logitech's sometimes have a locking ring that holds them in), the contacts get filthy and then they stall out.
Had mine for years, now I can't stand using a reg one.

so far im having a bit of trouble adjusting to the ball-mouse tho :D

im thinking about just buying a new one, i got this one for free, altho from an unopened box. which makes me feel bad about discarding it so quickly, and not giving it a chance :D
(ITS AN INANIMATE OBJECT IT HAS NO EMOTIONS!!!)
poor unloved ball mouse :D

i have two major mouse-requirements: quickly aiming in games (so far this seems impossible) and pixel-art, which is very slow anyway, and shouldnt be a problem w a ball-mouse

i also moved no programs over. but i sortof like that.
it shatters my routine into dust, i am FORCED to go explore for games and progs to install :D

the only things ive kept is a zip file ive mailed myself, with:
my in progress novels
pics of one single pretty chick :eyelash:
and my very latest aspie-stim-pixelart: a series of modern handguns, submachineguns and rifles :]

ice queen; i dont mean like an old fashioned type ball, but these new huge ones. i dont think it works without the ball :I
this one in fact:

No you pop the ball out to clean it.

Similar.

For gaming though, you'll want something else, they suck.

Yeah, that video card is really letting it down, otherwise, not to bad there.

You could probably pick up a cheap card somewhere, dunno what the prices are like where you live though.

mothercrapping fuck :( i tried to insert my old 256 video card, at least it would be BETTER right?
wrong :(
incompatible.
WHY WHY OH WHY THE FUCK do they make them imcompatible?
is the SOLE purpose to hope that people get the wrong one, cus you cant return them once you open the box, and if your a noob, you pretty much have to open it to realize it doesnt fit. this happened w a memory card my brother got me as a gift: incompatible!
:D

well, i HAVE to buy a new vid card. theyre expensive, but i can easily afford a good one, its worth the investment.

i installed oblivion yesterday, and what boggled me was this:
movement, reaction, everything cpu and memory based was very smooth once a scenery was loaded and ready
scenery-maneuvering/actual rendering was: slow as a bitch :D, like on graphics settings a step above default, the pointer arrow snailed itself over the screen. i had to minimize ALL graphic. characters etc arent laggy whatsoever, but the screen isnt catching up.
this was when i suspected that my vid card wasnt as good as i had thought :I
