Checking the internet before I log off, will sleep and then be going on a small holiday for 3 days. This time just me and my parents, but I do pay for my own room though.

I like them when I am at home or in a safe place because I can't filter sounds. Every sound that comes in my head is the same volume, and they all fight for valuable brain processing power. Having head(or ear)phones lets the brain concentrate on just  the music, and not have to process any other sounds. It really gives the brain a much needed break sometimes.

I also wear headphones when I go downtown, or shopping by myself. I don't do it if I have someone with me but I do it on my own because I find those kinds of places like a sensory nightmare for me. Some days it's easier than others but I'd rather have the music drown out all mix of noise that I can't filter and distinguish, and just concentrate on what I see.

I don't have the volume up very loud when I'm outside though. Have to be aware and all that.
