Yeah, that's the case Callaway. The first one opened in Oakland several years back and about 18 months ago they opened another in an Historic building in El Cerrito. The one in Oakland was in a pretty good Downtown Area around the corner from a very good 24 hour Chinese resturaunt. They closed down the Oakland Theater early this year so we believed that just meant moving operations but then they closed the El Cerrito location a couple of weeks ago.

They were old style refurbished movie theaters Lit. And they showed some movies that other theaters wouldn't and the had a kitchen to make sandwiches/pizzas etc and served beer and wine for their patrons who wanted it. Going to the generic cookie cutter style modern theaters doesn't have the same ambience.

Just finished my teleconference. Now I am reviewing the presentation for tomorrow's meeting in DC. It will be a long day, starting with an early train.

It's sadder still if you've worked the booths of a dozen or so of those classic theatres.

I can see where it would be. Except for running the Squadron coffee mess I have avoided jobs that interact with the public. Things like cluttered used book stores and old theaters are increasingly difficult to find here and probably a lot of other places too.

I loved being  projectionist. I didn't have to interact with the patrons unless I chose to, and only rarely with the usher, the box-office, and so on. It was a great job.

Now it's all become a McDonald's for the movie industry.
