hey parts, i meant to post to you, pyraxis and peter.

have new cream for my eczema, and it seems to have more or less conquered it!  :woohoo:

it's called aveeno, and is based on colloidal oats.  sadly, it's made by johnson and johnson, who are pretty much at least fledging bastards.  :'(

anyway, one application lasts 24 hours-ish - i generally slap on something else at some point, but not much, and it beats the six times a day job i had to do before.

That's great, Lucifer!   :woohoo:

I've been using that stuff for many years, the doctor recommended it to me for a case of sun poisoning and I stayed loyal to it.  Wish I'd thought to suggest it to you sooner, but I wasn't sure it'd work for eczema.

I'm really glad it's helping you.  :)
hats off to the man on top of the world
come crawl up here baby, and we can watch this damn thing turn

it's very heavy, and stays pretty moist for a long while, but then i don't have too many difficulties with that, if it's doing me good.

Interesting. I had oatmeal baths prescribed to me when I was little, which were probably similar to their colloidal oatmeal bath treatment, but I haven't done that since I was about nine or ten. There may be companies other than Johnson and Johnson which sell a similar product.

Which of Aveeno's creams and lotions is the one that's working for you?

Thanks to steroids, I've got it pretty well under control at the moment, but I still get flareups when my circumstances get too stagnant. (It's interesting - it's not in direct conjunction with stress, but is on a kind of time-delay anywhere from a few days to a few months afterwards. I suspect it's related to low cortisol levels, since they'd be plenty high during the initial fight, but depleted from my system if it goes on for too long.)

Definitely worth a try, anyway.

So, I could get the same effect by smearing myself with porridge in the mornings?  Glad you've found something that works for you, but I'll stick with applying a few milliliters of steroid cream a couple of times a week.  :P

the lotion.  i can get it on prescription, in bucketloads, which is just as well, the rate i was getting through lotions and creams.

the embarrassing thing is, my doctor recommended it ages ago, but stubborn cow that i am, i was too stupid to try it.  ::)

the itching hasn't gone completely, but it is very much reduced, but because i haven't got swathes of skin snowstorming off all the time, it isn't aggravating things, and i haven't got that dreadful red, crunchy lizard skin anymore.   :green:

We use the Aveeno Daily baby lotion, it's worked great here. Better than all the crap they ever prescribed for me over the years anyways.

My son had it bad when he was little like I did, Dr. kept prescribing crap that didn't do squat, I think I went through every lotion on the shelf trying to find something that would help, this one helped right away.

yes, it really is great stuff.

had a look for other products with it in, pyraxis, but only found one organic/friendly one (well, only found one, full stop), and it's a gazillion quid a drip.  :(

My friend had eczema pretty badly, and the Aveeno daily intense something or other helped out a lot.
