It's a binary system, if i recall it correctly, and thus unlikely to have habitable planets. Their orbits would likely be elliptical, with very pronounced differences between min and max temperatures. Also, Sirius A has a too short life expectancy in the main sequence, that is, while burning hydrogen, to sustain such a planet, anyway.

Yes, true, but most of the planets orbiting binary systems cannot sustain life because of their eccentric orbits.
