Daughters are bloody expensive to maintain.

Not wrong. Expensive week
I2 today is not i2 of yesteryear. It is a knitting circle. Those that participate be they nice or asshats know their place and the price to be there. Odeon is the overlord

.Benevolent if you toe the line.

Think it is I2 of old? Even Odeon is not so delusional as to think otherwise. He may on occasionally pretend otherwise but his base is that knitting circle.

Censoring/banning/restricting/moderating myself, Calanadale & Scrapheap were all not his finest moments.

Are daughters more expensive to fathers than to mothers?

The only serious expenses I have here for the girls is shoes and school related stuff.

You know, they actually might be.

Weird. But maybe I have just got low maintenance girls, when it comes to money. They are happy with mum dying their hair in bright colours. And they are not into the latest fashion.

May be different in other households but the general rule for an easy yes was, if they want to do something ask mom, if they want to have something ask dad.

Did not apply for me, does not apply for my kids, does not apply for my walk in girls. Don't think my brother will let himself get used like that. Here you pay for things yourself. My walk in girls ask their dad more when they want to do something than their mum.

Could be culture. Don't think many girls here will let someone buy them dinner either.

How do kids without jobs manage that?

Having and doing can both be expensive. Was more them working our personalities. Not the type to think material things are important, and he more the type to be overly protective about them being away or in someone else's charge, so they knew who to get in their corner first. Between the two of us, they probably managed to have and do everything they wanted.

Thing is I just don't know girls. I don't know girl fashion, hair, make up. She has no female mother figure for advice.
She has to figure it out for herself.  What CAN I do? Just support her and encourage her in her attempts to build her confidence and become the her she will become.
