No, many of my family left Scotland ahead of lynch mobs or threats due to having wiped out enemies in "not the Highland way" AFAIK. They went to N. Ireland before coming to "the Colonies". http://www.historic-uk.com/HistoryUK/Scotland-History/HighlandClans.htm Most of the rest of my ancestors were here by 1635 so I feel thoroughly attached to this continent.

 My mother's people came here from Ireland in the 1800s (though if her great-grandmother was indeed part Native,
 obviously some of the family was here long before).  My father's parents arrived from Austria in the early 1900s.  :viking:
I bet WWI was no picnic for your Austrian ancestors. Nobody ate sauerkraut anymore, it was liberty cabbage.

 My father grew up speaking German as well as English, but told me once that he didn't go around calling attention to that fact.  :chin:

My husband was a little surprised when he met the boy who told me that he was in love with our daughter but he introduced himself very politely.  Our daughter goes to a different school now and the boy moved to a different town, so she never sees him anymore.

One of the cable channels is going to show a mini-series on the Gypsies of England.  I'm looking forward to watching it.
