My hi-tech DAC arrived, today. I am burning it in with my own system, as I type, about an hour in at this point.

It sounds wonderful!!

I am curious as to what the good news is.

This reminds me of what my uni has done regarding my guild fees. I haven't paid them since last year and now I owe them $150 (including for this semester). The horrible thing they have done though, is block my results from being seen by me until I have paid them. :( I can't afford it. Chances are I will start next semester not knowing the grades I got for this semester just gone.

This belonged in the quick bitch thread, oh well.

wtf

they won'tlet you see your results till you've paid? That's fucked up. Here they say you can't graduate until you've brought back books from the library but they wouldn't withhold youur results from you.

Don't you get loans or anything? Here eveyone ends up in debt coz of tuition fees but you at least get to do it - you just have to pay back later

that's really messed up that they aren't telling you your grades :-\

The same happens if there are overdue books - don't get to see grades. Now that I am affected by it, it seems evil and mean, heh.

I don't pay for tuition due to HECS which is a government funding thing. When I get a job down the track I will pay for the tuition fees through tax (a lot of tax.

I get a scholarship payment once a semester as well and I think I will use that to pay my stupid guild fees.

Well, yeah. Exactly!

That's what fine audio components are all about, right?

The mods are not new. This rig is about two years old. I am mostly using this time (over the next few weeks)  to burn in my connections (you and I do not need to discuss electrolysis between freshly changed interconnects, I assume, As you probably already know, even two pieces of gold plating in contact will change characteristics rapidly, at first.) and allow for a bit of time for ME to get past any psycho-acoustic expectation. Newly added gear can often fool you, if you try to asses its effect too quickly. I am trying to reserve my most harsh judgment for a time when I am more familiar with this piece of gear.

So far, I am amazed and that is NOT what I want to feel. I want to begin to think that my system can hardly be any better. I do not want that feeling to approach me from a "proud Daddy syndrome"  or some kind of other pride in the "new-ish"  addition to the system.

I hope that makes sense.

Physiotherapy.

Such a bliss for my shoulders and neck.
And she is just gorgeous too. With a clear and quirky mind. So we can have interesting conversations. Or be pleasantly silly.

Lots of sense. I've had equipment change their characteristics for long periods of time. I could have sworn that an old pair of B&W speakers were still changing after I'd had them for five years. And I got them from my brother. They always sounded nice but the low-to-mid range became softer, and even the 4kHz that I am usually very sensitive about was less whiney.

Interestingly I've found that modern cinema processors change a lot less--the latest almost nothing. I suspect it's because the signal paths are largely digital. The amps do change, though, and obviously the speakers.

I need someone like that in my life.

Oh wait, I do. But she lives too far away and is busy riding bikes, watching ants, fiddling with candles and eating chocolate.  :eyelash:
