I'll have to think of new names for two audio processing plugins of mine; as of now, they are the fPS : Simple Compressor and fPS : Simple Limiter, but calling them simple is already near stretching it, and soon they will be even less so. Naming things is one of those things where I either get a brilliant idea out of nowhere, or remain quite stumped. In this case, it's the latter. The best I have thought of as of yet is to replace "Simple" with "Universal", which is slightly off the mark but acceptable. Any suggestions?

How is that avoiding a headache stuff working out for you?
I have about a fifteen pound headache kicking things around and breaking some of my favorite stuff, right now and  I'm trying to train it.

Neat. Maybe "Universal Limiter" won't be too bad a name for the plugin after all. The new input detection algo will probably make it quite capable of signal peak crunching in addition to softer limiting. Let's see how good a limiter I can make with zero look-ahead and no internal delay whatsoever. (always annoys me whenever a plugin delays the sound as much as a single sample. that's cheating ;)) It's in two stages right now. First, a main limiter stage using instant attack following... "overly biting" RMS detection, giving some overshoot and pretty smooth limiting. Then, a second stage using instant attack with immediate peak detection, guaranteeing no overshoot for the output. I'll have to think of a good way to implement that new, dynamic saturation filter I loosely have in mind for in-between the stages.
