Such a sweet face! Is she a tortoiseshell? I forget the difference between tortoiseshells and calicos.

I think calicos have white in them and tortoiseshells are darker maybe?

Oooops! OK, thank you! Yes, she does have a lot of white, and it's so clean and bright! She looks well cared for.  :)

A bit more on the calico subject:

Calico cats are domestic cats with a spotted or parti-colored coat, usually predominantly white with orange and black patches. Outside of North America the pattern is more usually called tortoiseshell-and-white. They also are very tempermental. Other names include tricolor cat, mi-ke (Japanese for 'triple fur') and lapjeskat (Dutch for 'patches cat'); calicoes with diluted coloration have been called calimanco or clouded tiger. Calicoes differ from simple tortoiseshell cats in that tortoiseshell cats have black and orange coats with possible patches of white, whereas calico cats have white-based coats with black and orange patches.[1] Some calico coats have a swirl (called a rosette) on either side of the stomach.[2]

You have references marked, but you didn't mention what source is referenced.

If you want more information about calicoes, why don't you ask Calico?  ;)

I take umbrage at that tempermental remark. My cat Guinevere was a sweet heartr. Mice and birds didn't like her but other than that she got along well with others.
