I've never tried a bowl of salt; it might not cope too well with the rain here, and if it overflowed it would damage the soil and possibly kill plants.

I've tried that a few times.  They just produce lots of thick, stringy mucus and then shed the mucus and salt and carry on like nothing happened.  When I want to dispose of them 'manually', I pick them up with tongs, put them in the bin and then sprinkle in some slug pellets so that they don't climb out.  I got a lot of tadpoles for my pond, and I'm hoping that once they mature into frogs, they'll eat the slugs and keep their numbers in check.  If I feed the frogs to maintain the population at artificially high levels, they might keep the adult slug population at near zero.  I'm not sure what I could use as frog food though; I'll have to experiment and see what they'll eat.  At the moment, the tadpoles are happy to eat the same pre-soaked, mashed-up dog kibble that I feed my goldfish and minnows, and there's plenty of algae in the pond for them to graze on.

Some cherries we picked from a tree down the street.  The old farmhouse has been torn down, but the trees remain.  Apples, pears, figs, and plums are still ripening.

What I've been doing lately.  Turning my workshop back into the master bedroom, and patching all the holes that I and former residents put in the walls.

and I leave with nothing but love,
everything else is just borrowed.

thanks,

yeah me up and down the ladder a million times, plus the fetching and handling of the material adds to it. It ain't like Home Depot is close, 32 miles away and just a little 6 foot bed on mu pickup.

when I moved most of my stuff last June from CT to VT. I got the siding for the house with the rental truck and than rented one a few months ago to get siding for the garage and the 16' lumber for the roof. Pushed 4 full loads out the front door of home depot that day and threw them into a rental truck. Good part is Budget truck rentals is right next door to home depot.

I blew it, got 1 case of siding left over, plus 2 full pieces, it's $129.00 a case and 12'6" long. Really no big deal considering all the money I spent on this place, with the garage probably like $50,000, plus $85,000 to buy it. 2 acres.
Town told me it's now going to be taxed at $146,100, guess I can't complain considering what I put into it plus my labor and my real estate lady said it might sell for $135,000, so the town was close, but sure hammered me along with most everyone else in town.
They where here before the roof project, so I sure wasn't going to complain and have them take another look.

They assessed us and upped our valuation by a good bit, so I appealed it by mail.

I used a foreclosed house in the neighborhood that sold recently for one of my comparables, because it was very similar to mine.

The assessor lowered the valuation even more than I asked them to this time.  That's a first for me.

 :yikes:
