Yes. If you'd watch the video, I'd be interested on your opinion of it.

You could just listen to it.

I had my disagreements, because good conversation is simultaneous, and the things
the dude started out with were simplified too much to address anything like reality.
When you abstract away too much, you get something pure - but incorrect.

I rarely watch videos here. This is a message board.

I could but I won't.

Look, this is a message board, not YouTube. We write things and we post them, and the time it should take for me to walk through a post is the time it takes to read it, and it's possible to glance through a post to see if it's actually worth reading in its entirety. Not so with a 10-minute video.

Yes. If you'd watch the video, I'd be interested on your opinion of it.

I watched it. Did you?

To summarise:
* most people think they are good at listening but they aren't.
* the speaker recommends an experiment where, when you are having an argument or disagreement with someone, each person needs to restate the other party's previous statement. Both parties must agree that it is an accurate restating.

[troll]Or you could, you know, rely on sweeping and inaccurate statements and just insult anyone who disagrees with you. That works as well. [/troll]

Does repeating the same text that you wrote, again and again, count? How about if you do it enough?

No, you need to restate it in your own words and demonstrate a clear understanding of what the other was saying.

I don't believe that the experiment was intended for typed conversations.

Was any of it?

If I wrote it in the first place, isn't it my own words?

Why do I care what the other is saying? I'm trying to hear myself think.

Is it that different from the networks in America, owned and operated by very few people?

One must be smart in their choices of media exposure. OH, and verify, verify, verify everything before you digest it.

It does not matter where you drop your hat or hang your coat. Media is out to corrupt your mind and have you go their way to get money from the advertisers.
