They go from a few bucks to $1500

yep. they are like opals in the fact that they have a color play to them, exept they are way fucking rarer than any opal. some look like stain glass windows, others like bunches of grapes. and some even have what they call "ghost colors" which looks like regular brown/red agate that when you shine a little light on it, the color shows up. I must say that I don't think they will ever be a popular gem because of the way you have to cut them. (wich basically enquires griding away the layers to expose the gem)

richard, if I ever find any fire agates, I will send them to you. 
They hold no attraction for me because I don't like brown. 
My cousin sent me photos of his group motorcycle ride in the southwest. 
All I saw was brownbrownbrownbrownbrownandmorebrown.   
The closest color to brown that I tolerate is winter white. 
However, I do like a finely paneled library, but only the library should have wood paneling.

Thanks queen. they aren't all brown though, some of them are quite beautiful. these are all owned by me your seeing regular brown agate I think. this is different from gem quality Fire Agate

  My parents' house has some nice wood paneling about the mantelpiece in the living room.  :M
