I like brown noise, the others seem too high-pitched for me.

Had to look it up; probably couldn't stand much of that either.

I can't buy anything until I have enough money. Payday isn't until Thursday  :bigcry:

What do you want to buy?  :orly:

Mostly DVDs and some books :-/

Maybe a ticket or two to some games at Wrigley...

Do you go to the games by yourself?  :orly:

the first two times I went with my sister, the last time I went was when Dad came along. The one that Dad went to was the most epic to be honest... the Cubbie's starting pitcher went and accomplished his 20th win of the season that night.

A pink noise generator.

What are you going to do with all that noise?

Create more. :zoinks:

I'll be doing a proper room EQ for the garage cinema. One of the processors I own have a pink noise generator built in, but the rest has been guesswork until now.
I see. Was thinking you might be one who needs noise. Static sounds make me anxious, but don't even realize it's happening until it gets so bad, have to stop and wonder why I feel like am dying.

You probably want to keep your distance while I'm doing the room EQ.

I often ran pink noise several times during setting up a strange venue. Before the sound check to get a brief double check of what my original "walk around the empty room clapping my hands" told me. Then, immediately after the first live band sound check using the preliminary microphone setting turned up to "almost ringing."  Running pink noise again in that setting allowed me to set my overall notch filters to the first three or four frequencies which will cause problems during the night.

I often took the time to set the microphones back to normal and run a secondary house EQ analysis that was more intended to perfect a flat response from the house system. Most think this is unnecessary, since "we already did that,"  but there is nothing like going into a problem venue where everyone usually leaves with a headache and hearing the first peep from the stage completely flat and dry with almost no room effects audible.

Then the magic that I can offer with all my special effects, digital delays, flanging, reverberation, doubling, chorus, etc can become predictable.

It's useful to do the EQ more than once. I usually run a reel of test material I know intimately to get a sense of what the RTA isn't showing me.

Just bought a double-lot of second hand hotplate-magnetic stirrers that were being sold as a pair, whilst looking for a heating mantle/stirrer.

The latter-350 watt output, max temperature 380 'C and stir speed up to 1400 RPM

The hotplate pair are second hand, but tested to be in good working order and include magnetic stirring for both, a corning model 353 and a thermolyne model 1900, both flat-topped hotplates rather than heating mantles (these are shaped like a deep bowl, various sizes according to need, the one I got is a 1 liter, and with a heating element wrapped in a sheath that snugly fits the flask, been wanting a heating mantle for ages, so, got one finally, and at not too bad a price either.

Total cost for everything, just over £228 dollars including priority shipping. Thought I'd not be able to get them, since a message came up saying 'seller doesn't ship to your country', but it turned out that was for added insurance automatically included for a few pounds extra and that I didn't ask for to begin with. Got rid of that, readded everything to my ebay cart and no problem, everything went through no problem.

My current hotplate has seen better days and a few repairs have had to be done on it, plus a hacked repair to the power supply that whilst it got it working again means I can't use only the stirring with no heat since the two power feeds are routed through the same controller. That unexpected money in my account proved just  the thing. Now I can effectively retire the other hotplate of mine I have now. Its getting old, and tired, and been begging for a replacement for a while now.

Now I have two, plus a brand spanking new good quality heating mantle :D
Beyond the pale. Way, way beyond the pale.

A $2.00 computer at the thrift store.

Popped the top off the generic case...1 TB hard drive, 3 ghz intel cpu, ASUS DVD burner, Gigabyte MB/HDMI chip, clean as a whistle...Windows XP.
