Make sure they don't get at anything containing xanthines (caffeine, theobromine, theophylline etc.) such as chocolate (even more so raisin-filled chocolate, grapes are potentially lethally poisonous to dogs in a very small quantity, most but not all dogs are susceptible to grape poisoning)

Enough square-profile magnet wire for building a pair of electromagnet coils several inches thick and 2-3 meters in diameter, along with a bunch of powerful quadrupole or sextupolar magnets. This I want so I can build myself a cyclotron or cyclosynchrotron, and a heavy-ion accelerator (both are types of particle accelerator), partly for all kinds of experiments, but also for use as a powerful alpha-radiation source, for bombardment of beryllium metal, Be absorbs alpha particles and spits out neutrons. I'd love to be able to do my own nuclear transmutations, for various reasons, but in part so I can obtain those chemical elements for an element collection that are otherwise extremely difficult or impossible to obtain, for instance, neutron bombardment of 238U results in transmutation to plutonium-239 and neptunium. As well as creating technetium, polonium and promethium.

241Am is only an alpha emitter. Simple paper or tinfoil wrapping (foil is overkill for alpha particles, unless maybe they were ultra-high energy coming from a dedicated accelerator, even then I doubt more than a bare few would make it through)

But paper is quite sufficient to block the alpha radiation coming from those small ion sources.I've heard some rumors that some kinds of smoke alarm, perhaps older ones, are actually based upon neptunium, and not just as a daughter isotope from the decay of 241Am.

Not sure if its true, but damn, I'd just love to find some of those in my lab-scavenging endeavors.
