I'm needing to find some things for my birds... I think I'll do that while getting money for transportation to work for Monday's shift.

Thats generous of you miss K.

Don't suppose you'd buy me one too ? :P

Although the last two days its been better its been absolutely scorching lately. Damn weather forecast predicted some huge thunderstorms for right this area, but they never materialized. Was rather disappointed at that, since I love a good thunderstorm.

A clothes washer and a clothes dryer.  To be delivered next week.

 :asthing: :asthing: :asthing:

What brand did you get???

The old reliable - Maytag.  Gas dryer because it's cheaper to run here and less to go wrong with the parts.

Hope you get a good one.

MIL & I both had lemons...don't think our results where typical though, give it a good workout, and remember most places like Lowes, Home Depot give you 30 days regardless if you're not happy.

I splurged and did something I don't usually do, bought the extended warranty for both.  At $100 each for 5 years it seemed reasonable since a service call starts in the neighborhood of $110.

 We did that with the LG washer we just got too.

MIL hasn't had to call for service yet with hers, but despises the thing, and is sorry she missed the 30 day window. She says it's the slowest thing she's ever seen.

Try all the cycles.

The quick one she is looking for may not be labeled the same as she is used to seeing.

Ghandi: Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.

The end result of life's daily pain and suffering, trials and failures, tears and laughter, readings and listenings is an accumulation of wisdom in its purest form.

It's useful to do the EQ more than once. I usually run a reel of test material I know intimately to get a sense of what the RTA isn't showing me.

And yet, it is never more than approaching adequate. You still hear things that make you want to jump out of your seat, if not your entire skin, to correct things once again.

This modern era of actual real time digital/figital analysis has gone a bit over the top, so to speak.
In all honesty, I had a hard time learning to let one instance of "not quite right" go.

Then you go from an empty house to one filled to the brim with screaming fans. Thank god I had time to do the ring out and set the problem frequencies to the notch filter as you turn it up and up and up to offset the crowd noise.

Rock and roll, baby!!
 :headbang2:

Time for "protective"  headphones.

I'm so glad I never had to do concerts. It must very, very different from doing a house EQ for a cinema where people sit fairly still in a well-controlled environment.

In a cinema, the RTA is desperately needed as you're not looking for flat, you're doing a Dolby curve (also known as X curve) so Dolby mixes come out right. They still control the market.

The RTA is also essential when doing the A chain--optical sound is tricky to get right without one.

A reel of magnesium ribbon (for ignition of metallothermic and carbothermic type reduction processes, thermite type reactions basically) and after thorough cleaning, grignards, perhaps (an organometallic reaction, notable for its being very water-sensitive and needing Mg with its oxides stripped away ideally)

Well I just happen to have to get online atm from the toolshed after the filth trashed the place. Case has been dropped finally so I should get my own machine back soon. So there is no point bringing a CD player in here (although there already is one), but this way I don't constantly have to change CDs, and can play stuff I don't have on CD, and search around for new stuff.

Me too, and films. Netflix and other films you download, those companies don't have nearly as much of a selection as they should. It's basically limiting what their viewers can see. I wonder if there is an ulterior motive for this. :orly:

There are programs downloadable for DLing tracks off youtube if you care to look online.
And to get round area-specific blockades use TORbrowser, its a firefox derivative that integrates TOR, and you can simply route your connection through a server in another country in order to sidestep the block.

The one issue I've had with TORbrowser is that some sites, mostly academic, and OCCASIONALLY youtube, sees it as mass-access to the data, kinda like wardialling and systematically spidering for content due to the way TOR works (it bounces connections round multiple servers, assisting in anonymity. Especially if used with a VPN (since exit node traffic can be monitored with TOR still, or exploits by setting up bogus nodes to sniff traffic etc.) but you'd have to be up to something and attract attention beforehand for that to be worthwhile (E.g paedophile rings have been cracked despite their use of TOR)

But it will certainly get you round country-specific blockades, all you need do is change TOR circuit. Sometimes it takes a couple of re-routings for it to cycle to a country not affected by such a content block but it will do. Put the two together and DL what you want. Easy as.

Thanks Lestat. There isn't an awful lot I can do at the moment though. I prefer DVDs and CDs still. I like the covers, inside sleeves and loading them into the machines. Downloads are so boring and there's no feeling to them. I don't trust Smart TVs either. I have an old big TV, the proper bulky kind. I need to get rid of it though as the screen size keeps changing. Otherwise I would keep it. :(
