You once explained how bots can effectively see paths visitors can't see, but not certain how a bot could retrieve results from a search.

They shouldn't be able to unless search is enabled for guests.
As a guest you can enter a search. You will not get results though, apart from a field telling you that.

Can Jack see the newsbox, as a guest?
If not, tapping the white ^ in the right upper corner, next to "simplemachineforum" could change that.
There is a search entry option over the newsbox.

Attempted to use that search bar with another browser as a guest while logged in to see what I appeared to be doing as a guest. It didn't display me as searching or retrieving results of a search, but only as viewing the board index of intensity.

Which only means that the parts accessed by the bots aren't directly accessible to guests. There's no UI to represent the functionality.
