And I don't think its necessarily fear that stops people from talking it- more that they can't be arsed with the predictable resulting verbal pile on.

okay, so name names.  PI says "staff", so that means dunc, odeon and callaway, yes?  could i please know the names comprising the "clique" too?

The clique is loose. Not terribly well defined. It is NOT
a formal thing. I would certainly include you in it, however,
given the ways in which you helped with certain hounding,
AND the way in which you were 'protected' from attacks.

Any others want my opinion, they can ask directly.
I'd suspect most already have a pretty damned good clue
though. A group which NEVER seems to actually fight one
another, fawns over one another's posts, and rushes to each
others' defense, even against the weakest of us.

In addition to whatever core there is to this behavior, there is
also a ring of satellites, who are less inclined to help, but receive
such from the core.

Note, that I'm NOT saying that any of this is deliberate nor planned.
I really don't see it as any more than normal cliquish human behavior.

But, in some instances, it has caused what I see as harm to the site.
Of course, the members of the clique probably see any challenge to
their ways as causing harm too.

That's a kind of fear.

Doesn't have to be- you can decided that you don't have time or the inclination to be bothered with what people seem to be fond of calling 'drama' without being afraid to speak out.  Although I suppose it has the same effect.

bollocks.  name names or stfu.  i'm sick of these preposterous suggestions of a clique.  if you can't back up your accusations, they're just classic whingey whining from someone who perceives some major power somewhere and isn't part of it, or shit stirring (by their own admission).

and no, PI, i'm not waving the shit stirring banner to smother debate. i'm just heartily sick of this site turning into a whinge-fest/playground for people who want to moan, and will always find something to carp on about, changing the goalposts as and when their "arguments" are challenged.

I am NOT going to abuse those not in power
with such a label. I'd certainly put both Odeon
and Callaway in it. As I said, ANYONE else who might
be curious about their own position in my assessment
can feel free to ask.

There's no argument here. You asked for my assessment of
other people. I'm not giving that. That simple. Just keep your
fucking eyes open, and see who always agrees with the three
of you. It's pretty god damned clear.

Uh huh. Like I've said, so long as that's your best,

Nope. Unlike your CLAIM, I'm not shifting in order to please anyone.

I presumed that Odeon and Callaway were OBVIOUS. honestly, the whole bunch
is, to anyone who looks. You got eyes. Or, just ask all your friends to ask me.
I think you'll find about a 90% hit rate. Though, you may miss a few.

Thanks, but no thanks. I'm not going to get
sucked into trash talking people who have done
little but be herded, without their request.

Whether you call it a clique, a group of friends, a cult just because people hate being lumped together doesn't make it less true that certain people will almost always jump to the defence of certain other people- yes that also happens with the non-popular people.    All perfectly allowed under the banner of free speech and I realise there is nothing to do to change that. its just human nature, but lets not all pretend that we're somehow all special people above all that.

Less so, I think. And I've certainly seen that the further
one gets from the group which I am particularly talking
about, the MORE willing that any other supposed clique
is to attack and squabble amongst one another.

Now, that could just be that those of us outside are
FAR less 'likable' (read compliant?).

Because unless the staff did so because they wanted to avoid more complaints about the no prank list there was no reason for it not to have been clearly announced as soon as it was started.

You keep saying that. It wasn't, however.

Tell us what it means, then. Me, I think that a very large part of the membership just can't be bothered.

I know you disagree, but I think this is mostly because of Cal's constant games.

I highly doubt it. I've found PI to be one of
the very few who look at all sides of an issue.

Quite often, we don't agree, but I know that
she gives matters thought.

i rest my case, cal.  you can't back up your claims.

QED.

so give me a good reason why i, or anyone else, should give any credence whatsoever to anything else you say?

and i thought I2 was started specifically so people had to back up what they said or stfu.

I actually disagree because I've had the 'privilege' of being on both sides of this- I've had the PM's trying to persuade me round to the popular line of thinking. I've also been part of the smaller group having their opinions written off because of who they agree with.

What the fuck kind of claim is it that I have an opinion about
people? How could I NOT?

Sometimes, your blindness, in order to attack me,
is most perplexing.
