You have an option to make something of yourself and fulfil your ego. Take it.

The somethings which would fulfill me
are beyond my grasp now. Probably
always. Now, it's simply a matter of
what I am willing to settle for.
There is always a way, you just need to open your eyes and have the vision to see it!

Eyes don't help.
But perhaps. It's
just that I seek the
impossible.

Let's take an example.
I would like to prove
Goldbach's conjecture
(or disprove - but I suspect
it's true). This may actually be
impossible, which is fine - I'd
be happy to show that.

But, it may be impossible even
to express that it is indeed one
of those things.

And THIS is what I consider 'settling'.

Oh, Goldbachs conjecture will need to be solved by a team of the world best, if it is solvable by people at all. What you want is to become a god really isnt it. I have a similar problem, i have a need to be the undeniable best to settle, but i have some niches that look vaguely promising.

I wonder if the reason is simply to have a
good excuse for failure. But, sometimes I
really do feel that I get glimpses. I guess
the hope is that one of those would turn
something up which isn't too weak.

But yeah, less than the best seems unworthy
of pursuit. For THAT, I do owe my father the
blame, I fear. Not that he thinks that way,
but he managed to instill it in me.

What you need is someone to find a difficult challenge that you can just fulfil but also fulfils your ego. I could have a think if you want, i may find something. Someway of making you succeed.

'Tis hard. Getting my last undergrad degree
with a stellar GPA was a tiny thrill. Barely lasted.
I really can't imagine what would. Or if I'd be bearable,
if my ego were fed.

is there a correlation between your high grade point average and oral favours you did for your profs?
Misunderstood.

How do you know this ? Are you from the future ? Or do you hold some other form of psychic power ?

edit: Sorry Calandale i just realized that this was your thread. I should have asked him in his own thread. I hope you dont mind.
