What's your biggest regret in life?

Would you rather regret something you did do or something you didn't do? (usually an obvious question for most, but for you I suspect you might surprise me).

1. No idea. I used to believe that I had made the best
choices, in the end. Losing my wife changed all that.
So, I suppose that is my greatest regret, though there
is no single act which caused this. On the other hand,
it is entirely possible that that was a necessary event,
for me to get where I need to be.

2. The obvious answer. I can't even think of too many
big things that I've done, that I regret. It's the unfulfilled
possiblities which torture me. Not doing is a form of doing,
so what cost would there have been? Hard to tell, but I
don't take risks.

I don't take risks.

That should have been obvious to me from some of the posts you've made on here.

Yes Cal, but sometimes you do take them and they are just way out there...ie; wrist biting!

No. I thought of it, but didn't take it.

Ah...but I wouldn't put that into the "don't take risks" basket.  That would be the "avoiding arrest on impulse" basket!

We still disagree on what the outcome would have been.
Pretty sure that it wouldn't have been worse.

Funnily, my students make the same kind of comments.

I'd be shocked if they made it about
myself or PI.
