I wonder if she saw any purple fuzz?
I've seen purple fuzz several times, myself being "safe inside,"  when lightning hit nearby. Sometimes it just sits there until it all dissipates and sometimes it dances around the room like miniature purple lightning, kind of crawling over everything conductive.
