Sorry to hear that, DD. Hips are a &(/%¤&¤ pain. I had lots of problems with mine last year but it seems to be OK now.

I hurt my ankle, two months ago. Got 25 kilograms of film on it. Nothing was broken but the soft tissue was hit badly. The doctor said I was lucky. I got around using a cane for the next few days.

Anyway, after two months, the ankle still hurts. A lot, sometimes. And a doctor recently said to me (cheerfully), "you can't expect these things to heal well once you're past 40".

Draw your own conclusions.

(Sorry but I decided to drink some beer so I'm getting more cheerful by the minute, here.)

I've done in the inner surface of my cheeek overnight. I clamp my teeth in my sleep and awaken extremely forcefully most of the time. If I'm lucky or drunk enough it is four or five hours of sleep I can mark, but last night it was a night of chomping the inner surface of both cheeks into something like living hamburger.

Now there just swollen as hell and it sounds stupid when I talk.
