Yeah that is it. They had good dynamics as far as going from loud to quiet/soft.
Mogwai are superb in that respect.
I'm not too familiar with Catherine Wheel; they are good - I'm going through a 90s Indie phase at the moment, discovering some bands which I missed the first time around.
Mogwai are pretty good, I don't listen to them or Catherine Wheel that much lately. I listened to a shitload of 90s indie music in the 90s haha. That was back when I first started to play guitar. Then I was more curious about the stuff that my guitar teacher could not play, as it was much more difficult. That is about when I got into Death Metal, around 1996 or so. He couldn't play that stuff to save his life. I am happy to say that I can play things that he couldn't even teach me, because he was just some music student at college who wished he could play Alice in Chains, let alone something insane like Necrophagist. He stopped giving me lessons when I could play AIC's Dirt from tabs on the net and he couldn't lol.
