I've been playing around with some of the kids at a church this morning. Now that school has re-opened, the Folksy Sunday morning group has begun to perform again. As much as I enjoy the ensemble when they are playing jazz or rock, they need me more during this acoustic and vocal period.
It kind of feels good to give a little back and to remind myself that, even thiough I have lost a lot of my hearing, I'm still able to help the youngsters set their stuff up properly and make it sound good. I know I don't hear as well as I did ten years ago, but I still hear things that no one else does and I can identify and eliminate the cause of dissonant acoustical things. If it wasn't for this little ego boost, this ugly day's weather would fuck me up.
