My roommate and my friend down at OSU have mostly been responsible for selling me on the show. Our buddy burned the 2 1st season pilots as well as the rest of the first season to DVD for us. We've got part of 3rd season on our DVR but I'm really trying not to watch it until I get caught up on season 2.

First season of the new series started in 2003 - different characters for the most part but I suspect just from the depictions laid out in the 1st season openers that Captain Adama was a carryover from the original cast.

Its been on sci-fi for a while. I know it started back in 2003, Yahoo searching it at least shows the sci-fi page for it. My own personal recommendation though - if you haven't seen the initial 2 featuretts and haven't seen the first or second season just rent some of that on DVD, the problem with the show is its all sequential and whatever you've missed from prior seasons kinda takes away from your understanding of what exactly is going on.

The best way I can really explain the appeal the new series has, think of this: compare a real early Batman movie to Batman Begins. On what levels am I getting at? Pretty much everything.

It's on Sci-Fi. The new Battlestar Galatica is VERY adult compared to the original which was just a kids show.
