I'm more balanced in my opinions of Trek, being a Trekkie.

Throw a negative at me :P

Trekker. They prefer to be known as Trekkers - Leonard Nimoy confirmed this is the correct ID. They consider 'Trekkie' to be a personal slight also because they think it says they have no life :green:

I'm with GA, Trekkie.

TNG isn't my fav trek, they seemed to snobby. DS9 is by far my fav, down and dirty trek.

Whoops... I was in edit land while you were replying. Sorry.

The term 'Trekkie' has been oft lampooned and 'Trekkers' consider it to be indicating a lack of having a life (and thus an insult). Most 'Star Trek' fanatics call themselves Trekkers... though there are a few who go by the shunned name of 'Trekkie'... but its usually considered anathema. Fans at a convention even shouted correction at Gene Roddenberry himself when he dared to use the word 'Trekkie'. Leonard Nimoy agrees that the term is correctly 'Trekker'. Personally, I don't much care what you call yourself - lol. I'd be fine with either 'Trekker' or 'Trekkie'... if I was one. I like 'Star Trek' but I've never worn the ears - lol :evillaugh:

Yeah love DS9!

An attempt to follow 'Babylon 5's lead. I know DS9 slightly predates Bab5, but in its first season or two it was regular Trek... though more grubby perhaps. When Bab5 got a following... all of a sudden DS9 manufactured a 'story arc' - a pale shadow of Bab5. ;)

Could be an aussie thing too working here GA. We tend to prefer things end in 'ie' rather than 'er'.

It was more like blasphemy when I called that 'Trekker' who asked me if I enjoyed 'Generations' a 'Trekkie'... inadvertantly adding insult to injury.

Sigh! Couldn't think of anything original to say?

I think it was more of a case of anyone that cared left to do voyager, so the people who were left to do DS9 could do what they wanted, and it seemed they had more talent and ideas that the morons who went and made Voyager.

I mean it isnt like B5 invented the story arc idea in a tv series you know.

That person obviously has issues unrelated to trek to begin with, I mean who cares, I know our interest is on the fringe of society, one of the biggest perhaps. I also know that means not everyone is into it and therefore mean any personal insult when they get things wrong.

Take your opinion on things for interest.   :green:  ;)

True. However, I know of no other Sci Fi series that had a pre-planned over arching story arc covering the five seasons of its hoped for run. Didn't entirely work out due to Warner TV hummin and harrin... but it was a marvelous attempt... yet to be even attempted again.

DS9's arc... was an after thought.

Yes... I'm a bit of a Babylonian - lol :evillaugh:

Oh yes! Someone who agrees with me!

Though Voyager was a great concept, the was royally fucked in the execution.

I've seen one and a half episodes of B5.
