Another way to get black ice is when the snow melts and then re-freezes into ice. It makes a sheet of ice that is so clear you can see only the sidewalk or road surface below it and it is very slippery. We get that a lot here because the temperature rises above freezing during the day, then falls back below freezing at night.
I feel bad for you that you have never seen snow IRL, renaeden. My nephew had never seen snow until he came to visit me here one year in April.
First, I drove him up to the mountains here to insure he saw some snow.
Then a couple of days later, it snowed at my house, so he got to make a snowman and he very much enjoyed playing in the snow.
