"Mogen" in Dutch, when used to express that you like or dislike, is mainly used for people.
Belgians more often use "Dat mag ik graag" for none people than the Dutch though.
Mostly, the verb is used to express what is, and isn't allowed. But, it can be used imperative, in a polite way, too.
Guess it is one of the verbs that is the hardest to translate to German, for Dutch beginners in that language,
"Mögen", "leiden können", "erlaubt sein", "durfen", "können", "sollen", all those are an option, in the right context.
