I wouldn't want to work on that either.   My town was settled by Europeans in 1639

150 year old. Ridiculous. This church in my home parish is 900 years old.  8)

fuck off!

nine hundred years ago our ancestors were mostly slaves and could hardly claim our buildings.

BTW, who built it for you, asshole!

Most Scandinavians were not slaves 900 years ago. Especially not in the Norse province Ranrike

I actually live in the old Alfheim.

Then don't fucking 'dis a people's history, for being short, which had to be formed getting out from under such things as slavery, lords, and indentures to find our way past "kings" FFS. Yeah, it took a while, and we did the same fucking things to the native peoples of this land (in our zeal) that we had learned from the fuckers who had kept us, but we are getting there.

Go find a fucking cold lake and jump in.

come back when you have learned some history.

better yet, fuck off!

some of us will get excited over your old fucking buildings, but don't fucking make light of the fact that we are still growing.

I live in a town that was settled for the first time by "western providence" (FFS) in 1837. Our oldest structures still stand. Before that, structures were made of trees, which have failed. Those structures were never meant to be permanent in the first place - know the history (asswipe!).

What does anything of that has to do with the fact that 150 years is no age for a European building?  ???

It's your superior, somehow-older-is-better, attitude to which I take offense.

Hell, no, we are not an old country, but recent global history is full of our attempted means. Check your own country's stupid interpretations of what we have tried to do for a start. What the fuck has Sweden done in two hundred years, besides advance metallurgy and some scientific theory!?!

You, yourself, claim to live in the most cowardly land on the globe. (I don't buy it, BTW - knowing a couple of old Swedish American artisans)

It's merely the Swedish authorities and media that are really cowardly. People are just too nice and humble towards them. But Sweden was one of the greatest nations once.

What Sweden/Swedes have done? Bofors guns (ironically), dynamite, the Monitor, the ball bearing, the automatic light house, the AGA gas stove, the adjustable spanner, the periodic system of elements, the Nobel Price, the cream separator, the computer mouse, the Brånemark system for titanium implants...

Bofors guns are sold through dummies, since we are a peace-loving nation that won't sell to countries at war.

The Nobel Price is not sold as far as I know.  :P

I don't know exactly when it comes to the patents, but of course those which were sold were sold with good profit.

But there still is a church in this parish built 400 years before Columbus came to America.  :smarty:

Still trying to see how that makes you and your old shit so much better than me and my new shit.  I am only saying that age, itself, with no current service, is hardly a metric for greatness.

A nine hundred year old something is no better than a brand new something, due to its age, alone. It is how it serves that makes one thing better than another or at least somewhat usable. Don't fucking dis' my history for being shorter than yours. Find something else.

By your own logic, your country should be well on its way to leading the entire globe.
Call me arrogant if it suits, but when did anyone wake up and give a fuck about anything that happens in Sweden, except porn!

I know there is national pride, but I like how some people claim their ancestors actions and accomplishments as they were their own.

You ancestors and your country did things hundreds of years ago. All you did was brag about it. How proud of you they must be.
