I compiled a shiny new kernel for my Linux box today. Works like a charm.

I doubt it would enhance the functionality, just increase the fat. But I'll pass on your suggestions to the kernel team. :P

A LOT more fat. And Bill Gates watching closely everything you do. I hope you won't lose your Internet connection or have to buy a new graphics card.

And here's a nice little condition you'll have to agree to if you want to run Vista:

They'll check that your Vista install is authentic every now and then, and if they find that you're running different hardware than you were when you registered (which you have to do, or the stupid OS will stop working), they might limit what you can do, or just disable the whole thing.

In other words, you register with your specific hardware, graphics card IDs and all, and if they find that the Vista # you registered runs on different hardware later, then that obviously means that you've sold or copied your Vista license.

Which means that the M$ goons will come after you.

And the sick thing is, if I killed them, I would be the one to go to jail.

They have already done that to me with XP.

I put a 400gig hard drive in early in the summer and they sent me several Notification Area warnings, even an email, all of which I ignored, They told me that I was possibly using pirated software and it was illegal. DUH!  I'm not and I thought they would go away, but I was wrong. Then one day it wouldn't boot at all. I put the drive in another machine and there was no info on the disk. ???

Turns out that the partition that Windows creates during a Win XP install was removed, making the disk un-readable. I was pissed! I should have re-activated my OS, like they suggested, but I just didn't take it that seriously. FOOKIN' Microsoft!

Nothing was wrong with the hardware, but Microsoft effectively cut off my access to their favors, by scrambling the software loaded on the disk. I didn't really lose anything, but some email and about twenty CDs I had ripped that I had to do over. It was a totally fresh install and I still had my old disk as a back up.
