I hate when people run off with assumptions.
« on: January 16, 2013, 01:38:47 AM »
I am not competitive, and people often interpret that as defeat.
On that old annoying manson forum, an annoying moron decided (I don't know how) that I was overweight. Somehow, he thought it was real info, some sort of personal, hurtful insider info he could use against me, and which he did with great sadism and pride. Only problem is - not only am I not overweight, but I am at times underweight.
But, I cannot be arsed to go into pathetic arguments "NO! IM NOT FAT :'0", so obviously, he kept believing I was fat - while also fully aware that I am broke, and a stoner.

On another forum I mentioned introducing a computer game to a girl crush, and how her excitement over this game had made me even more attracted to her. One poster angrily attacked my "virgin rantings", and it wasn't the first time he auto-assumed that I was some basement-living nerd who never had a woman. Again, I cannot be fucking bothered going into arguments, but this time someone sent me a friendly, well-meaning PM about how to beat my virginity. I had to tell this kind person to relax because... wtf... it's embarassing to even type it out: I'm not a virgin. Why should anybody know this!? But people make assumptions, run with them, and then others pick them up, and run with them too!

Lastly, just now, I wrote a quick resumee of the computer game Bully, asserting its similarity with GTA, concluding they are virtually clones. Someone hurried to slam me wrong - dead wrong - wrong wrong wrong - and letting me know something I totally was completely unaware of: Bully and GTA are made by the same people. HE ASSUMED I DIDN'T KNOW, despite the fact that the Rockstar logo of the world-famous game GTA appears a multitude of times in the introduction of Bully. I can even tell that Bully is an intermediate between San Andreas and the development of GTA4.

So... should I add little clauses to every post I make?
"I enjoyed the game Bully, because - BTW I KNOW IT WAS MADE BY ROCKSTAR - of its atmosphere and humorous - BTW IM NOT A VIRGIN - attitude, and vibrant - BTW IM NOT FAT - dialogue"

Why can't people just NOT make assumptions out of the blue? Where do they get the confidence to be so sure about themselves!?

I think the majority of people feel the need to categorize people into slots based on how they act or how they appear to them.

I've had many assumptions placed on me over the years...most of them are that I am a dimwitted, scatter brained, helpless woman, who can't remember where she put her keys...and for all appearances I tend to play the part well :autism: and enjoy being "invisible".

But every now and then by accident I blow up someone's assumptions...then the look on there face is priceless....and it's kind of nice....for a moment :P.

...until they start calling me.  :thumbdn: :zombiefuck:

it is well known that PMS Elle is evil.
I think you'd fit in a 12" or at least a 16" firework mortar
You win this thread because that's most unsettling to even think about.

Zegh. Shirley you can't be serious.

They will always see that in my eyes.
I am the passion; I am the warfare.
I will never stop...
always constant, accurate, and intense."

Why can't people just NOT make assumptions out of the blue? Where do they get the confidence to be so sure about themselves!?

The bigger question is why do you care what random internet people assume?

Why do you assume I care about what random internet people think?
Well, since you absolutely had to "put me up against a wall and bust me for being stupid and insincere" I will spoonfeed it to you. Read carefully now:

Forums are limited little societies. It has regular members coming and going. Everyone, even those "too cool for school" have SOME interest in self preservation. If I was universally hated in here, I wouldn't be coming back. Would you return to chat with people who think of you as pathetic scum? "Yeah! Cus I'm too damn cool to care!" well, good for you, but I actually don't believe you.

I don't go around crying over every stupid little opinion about me, so don't twist it that way. I just find it unfortunate that SOME assumptions are brought further, unchecked, untill it becomes a fact.
Some assumptions are detrimental, if not challenged. What if your family and friends decided to assume your a pedophile, and shun you for life? I know I am exaggerating the point, but you decided to be a smartass, so there.

This brings me to - why do people on the internet insist on being smartasses, trying to "put people against the wall", and "bust" them for being insincere or stupid?

(That was a rethorical question. The answer is becaue they are insecure, and a short cut to temporary self-assureness is to make oneself superior to others, by attacking their credibility, even in trivial little matters like this one)

Don't let it bother you Zeg. Being fat has nothing to do with your character. Buck up little buckaroo.
