It's not, these days. Mine cost me about $400, all in all. The problem is that these particular processors are very, very difficult to find, especially if complete with all of the modules. I was lucky and bought mine from an eBay seller that didn't know what it was and had mislabeled the auction.

I've spent silly money on modular synthesizer equipment over the last few years, but it's actually made me less productive.
