I'm into linguistics mainly, but I also have some interests in the arts (particularly music and literature) and sciences. History has also been a favorite.  8)

Are you sure you're not Prince Albert?  Except for the music and lit.  Any matter who you are, welcome to the Empire.

Hello there, people try to fluff this place up as some "madhouse" but in reality most of us are tame. What kind of music do you like?

Wow, thanks for all the replies everyone.
I've heard bad and good about this place, but the people who complain about it are usually those super-sensitive-can't-take-a-joke types, so I didn't really take what they said seriously. I just wanted to check it out for myself, and I like what I've been seeing so far when it comes to how this place is run. A lot of the other places are way too strict...
As far as music goes, I feel like my taste is somewhat eclectic; I like everything from Classical (and classical) to Baltic folk to 90s rap/hip-hop to alternative/indie rock... I'm open to listening to anything, really.

Hi Philosopher,

  :welcome: to I2

What's the most comfortable language for you?

Hint - the right answer is, "The language of love."

My native tongue is English, but I'm about half fluent in German and I've learned some basics of Japanese and Mandarin Chinese that I'll like to expand on soon. I also want to learn a couple more European languages. I hope to be fluent in at least 4 languages at some point.

And thanks for the video, Binty! I hadn't heard of that group before; I'll be certain to check in to more of their stuff. That song is amazing.  :2thumbsup:

I'd recommend you to pick up Spanish first, then use it to learn the basics of Italian and French. Or, you could learn Scandinavian languages as a group. Norwegian or Swedish first is probably the easiest route.

Yeah, I've been thinking about learning Spanish, but it just seems really difficult for some reason... sometimes I like a challenge in language-learning, but I don't know why I'm kind of shying away from this one. I'll start one day, though...
I've been wanting to learn the Scandinavian languages, too; I love the sound... and I also like the Scandinavian  accents in English.
